The Subaru Legacy is a compelling choice for drivers in the Copperas Cove area. This four-door sedan packs an incredible value into a compact package, giving drivers numerous safety and infotainment features. Though it's tough to spot the differences between this year's model and last year's version, the Legacy is still a great buy. Powerful Performance

The new Legacy's ride is calm and comfortable rather than sporty. It rides across a newly stiffened structure, and with two new engine options, you'll get more power and increased efficiency during your Harker Heights expeditions. The Legacy's capabilities belie its somewhat ordinary looks, especially when it's powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder.

The base engine is a 2.5L boxer-style four-cylinder engine making 182 hp. It's matched to a CVT with gear step simulation and paddle shifters. Though it takes over eight seconds to reach 60 mph, the Legacy's throttle responsiveness makes that time feel shorter. AWD is standard on every Legacy, providing a comfortable, familiar behind-the-wheel feel. Steering is accurate and light, making every drive through Temple a pleasure.

The turbocharged four-cylinder makes 260 hp and provides a 0-60 mph time of about six seconds. If you're driving through the mountains, consider the XT model for its climbing ease and passing power. Most Legacy cars ride on 17-inch wheels, but Touring, Limited, and Sport versions get 18-inch units. Test drive one today.

Interior & Exterior Design

The new Subaru Legacy retains its iconic shape. The vehicle's front end is still sleek, having undergone minor changes to the grille surrounds and front bumper. From the side, the only substantial change is a steep roofline that takes a sharp plunge toward the trunk. You'll also find a deeply-ingrained character line in each door. It's really easy to see the similarities between the new Legacy and the Outback as far as the front end is concerned. Backward from the rear doors, things are slightly different. The Subaru Legacy has a sedan's racy shape, but it attains that shape without overstated creases or wide rear haunches.

On the inside, the huge 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen commands your attention, and it's followed up by high-quality, soft-touch surfaces throughout the cabin. The lower cowl provides excellent outward visibility, and the cabin is truly a nice place to be as you cruise through Fort Hood.

Quality & Comfort

Few competitors are as comfortable and quiet as the new Subaru Legacy. The cabin comfortably seats five adults, and there's just over 15 cubic feet of cargo area in the trunk. Most Legacy versions get cloth upholstery, but the top-tier trims get soft Nappa leather. Front seating is comfortable and wide, with plentiful bolsters and adaptable thigh cushions on some models. There's plenty of up-front storage, and the available CD player does little to take up that precious space.

Getting into the back seat is easy, thanks to the rear cabin's spaciousness and the Legacy's widened door cutouts. The rear seat is roomy enough for three average-size adults, and there's plenty of legroom and headroom for most passengers to ride comfortably around Belton. All Legacy sedans get a sound-dampening windshield for reduced road noise, which is a great change over previous generations.

The new Subaru Legacy hasn't yet received independent and federal crash test ratings, but they're expected to be similar to those of the previous model. It's built on the same platform as the Subaru Ascent, which received the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation and a five-star rating from NHTSA. All Legacy sedans get adaptive cruise control and auto emergency braking. Blind spot monitoring is an option on most trims. The Subaru Legacy has eight airbags and rides on a steel-strengthened frame.
